Storm On Demand® Servers function like a physical dedicated server. Each virtual Storm Server® is persistent and has access to local RAID protected hard drive storage. If your server hardware experiences any sort of problem you can rest assured that your Storm Server® will not disappear.
Amazon EC2 instances are not persistent. If a host failure occurs or your EC2 server instance is terminated, all local data will be lost.
Storm On Demand® Servers come with persistent dedicated public IP addresses and private IP addresses. Storm's private networking provides seamless ability to securely connect all your servers together with the click of a button. The bandwidth used on the private network is free, low latency and does not count against your regular bandwidth usage. Additional public IPs are available upon request.
IP configuration in EC2 is much more difficult. EC2 instances are issued a non-persistent private IP address which must be NATed to a public IP. If your EC2 instance is terminated and new servers are launched, you will be issued a new private IP address. This makes planning IP configuration changes much more complex. It is also challenging to host multiple SSL sites via SSL because only one NATed IP address is available.
Storm On Demand® cloud servers can be easily and securely connected with Liquid Web dedicated servers to provide a true hybrid hosting experience that will allow you to leverage the strengths of both types of hosting. For example, Storm's private networking can be used to create a fast secure un-metered link to your dedicated database server for maximum performance.

Amazon EC2 24x7 support starts at $400 per month. For large EC2 instances over $2,000 per month you pay an additional 20% of your server fee's for support - regardless of the amount of support you actually use!

Firewalls, Private Networking, Backups, Restoration, detailed Monitoring, and Scaling can be easily performed from within your browser using the Storm® Dashboard. These features do not require an additional charge except for any hard disk storage that may be used.
Amazon EC2's dashboard and interface are very limited and additional services and features must be purchased ala carte from third party service providers or manually configured yourself. This adds cost and complexity to managing your EC2 servers.

With Storm On Demand® deploying a ready-to-use server is quick and easy. Simply select one of the many server types available, from 2GB servers all the way up to 48GB servers. Select the software which you require and your server begins provisioning instantly!
To deploy a new dedicated server requires a significant amount of work and takes a long time. Hardware must be selected, hard drives, memory, and networking equipment must be installed. Then the hardware must be racked and plugged into power and network. Then software installation begins. Operating system must be installed, system upgrades and tweaks must be made. Individual software applications need to be installed, updated and configured. This entire process can take days or weeks depending on the level of complexity.
Storm On Demand® Servers are charged by the hour and you only pay for what you use. This means that servers can be deployed and destroyed within an hour and you will only be charged a few cents for the time the server was active.
Deploying a dedicated server typically requires a setup fee or some sort of monthly/yearly contract.
