Storm On Demand Product Updates 4/17/12

  • Added the ability to add MSSQL Server and PCI compliance to Windows servers.
  • Fixed a bug preventing insertion of intermediate certificates when creating a new loadbalancer.
  • Corrected an issue where a URL listed in some emails used HTTP rather than HTTPS.
  • The API call for network/region/list was throwing an error when passed a page_size, this has been fixed.
  • Corrected an error causing improper IP allocation in rare instances.
  • Corrected a bug which could in specific circumstances cause a re-imaged Windows server to get a 169.254.X.X private IP address instead of the correct IP.
  • Fixed a bug which would result in cloned Windows instances not being properly added to the private network.
  • We now require password verification when destroying servers.
  • Various bug fixes and improvements.

Storm On Demand Product Updates 2/2/12

  • Added network/zone/details API method and modified the network/zone/list API method to utilize the primary key “id” instead of the key “zone_id”
  • Changed a portion of the resize algorithm which can dramatically decrease resize times in some edge cases.
  • Added notification of automated backup failures to the Storm interface. Should a scheduled nightly backup fail for any reason a notification will be displayed within the interface.
  • Standardized pagination across all API methods to return the same number of items or size of data.
  • Fixed a bug which would not properly display available IPs for customers that had per instance IP limits in excess of 250 IPs.
  • Corrected a bug which when immediately following a graceful reboot by a forced reboot could sometimes leave unresolved notifications in the account history

Storm On Demand Product Updates 11/17/2011

  • Added the ability to resize Sonar and bandwidth graphs within the Storm on Demand management interface.
  • Fixed a minor bug which, when both removing an IP and performing a reboot simultaneously, sometimes caused the IP removal to be incomplete.
  • Corrected a bug in which a customer’s /etc/resolv.conf was being overwritten by the default in some clone and create from image operations.
  • Fixed an issue in which reimaging a server from the core-managed and cPanel managed templates was failing to install the Zeus load balancer Apache module for customers which rely on that for traffic metrics.
  • We identified a connection tracking limitation and this has been modified and scaled with instance size.
  • There was a documentation error for the storm/image/list method, the documentation stated that the image data was listed under the “images” hash key, however it was being returned under the “items” key. The documentation has been corrected.
  • Corrected an edge case bug which in some cases could result in the failure of the remove an IP task on a server.

    Storm On Demand Product Updates 10/19/11

    • Reduced bandwidth pricing on outbound to $0.05/GB and free inbound for all pay as you go customers.
    • Fixed a display issue on clone affecting Chrome users.
    • Corrected a bug which prevented the display of the number of public IPs which could be added to the server without contacting sales/support when adding an IP address.
    • Fixed a bug which occurred when adding an IP during a resize in which the IP would not get properly added.

    Storm On Demand Product Updates 9/28/11

    • Changed display of invoices to make clearer what is the amount currently due versus the total amount of represented in activity over the time period of that invoice.
    • Standardized pagination of API methods which result in multiple items of output.
    • When resizing to a larger size instance we have added the option to forgo the disk resize and stay with the smaller amount of disk space. This reduces the amount of time necessary to resize, eliminates some downtime, and also provides for faster resizes back down if you intend this to be a temporary bump in size to accommodate a spike in traffic. The disk resize can be done at a later time by issuing a resize2fs command as provided in the interface or contacting support.
    • Added API methods for registering and renewing domains.
    • Added the ability to disable session persistence on the Storm Load Balancers in the UI.
    • Modified session persistence handling on the Storm Load Balancers to enable more rapid and easy persistence method changes by customers.
    • Corrected a bug which could cause adding an IP and adding private networking to a server at the same time to cause both operations to fail.
    • Identified and resolved an edge case issue with the Cloud Attached Firewall which could cause an invalid firewall state which blocked all inbound traffic.
    • Corrected an issue with adding some resource records in the DNS editor which could result in an error and failure to insert the requested resource record.
    • Fixed the issue of Fantastico licenses not properly being restored when a server was restored from an image.
    • Fixed an error in the DNS zone create API call which erroneously caused case sensitivity to be included in the method.
    • Corrected a bug in destination IP handling of the Storm firewall which was not properly storing the destination IP provided.

    Storm On Demand Product Updates 7/14/11

    As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the Storm on Demand platform we released the following features and updates on 7/14/2011.

    • Added Support LiveChat links to the Storm on Demand UI.
    • Introduced a feature which should greatly reduce or eliminate the potential for customers to receive new IPs with reputation problems due to prior users.
    • Added the ability for customers to provide server passwords in the UI in order to speed up support and monitoring assistance.
    • Corrected some minor IE6 display issues.
    • Corrected a bug which would cause the Create Server button to be grayed out in some circumstances.
    • Private network ranges for new customers will be deployed using a unique per customer 10.x.x.x allocation rather than the previous 192.168.x.x allocation. Existing private network allocations will be unaffected.
    • Fixed a bug with the Ubuntu 9.04 template which was preventing Sonar monitoring from functioning properly.

    Storm On Demand Product Updates 6/23/11

    We are committed to continually improving Storm On Demand. As a part of this effort we listen to feedback from our customers and our Quality Assurance teams. On 6/23/2011 we released these features and improvements to Storm On Demand.

    • Added a new 96GB server configuration. Reduced pricing on our 48GB server.
    • Added CDN services to Storm on Demand. Details are available at
      https://www.stormondemand.com/servers/cdn.html.
    • Back-end architectural improvements have eliminated some edge case very long deployment time
      scenarios and improved overall task execution times.
    • Updated the managed cPanel template to a more recent version of cPanel.
    • Reduced the maximum lifetime on authentication tokens for the API and user interface to 12 hours.
    • Corrected a bug which caused additional unrequested IP addresses to be assigned to newly created servers in some cases.
    • Fixed a bug which resulted in reboots initiated via the Storm interface sometimes leaving an unresolved notification in the Storm UI.
    • Corrected a display issue regarding notifications in the lower left notification area.
    • Fixed an bug which prevented submitting support requests via the Storm UI if the text field contained specific characters/values.

    Storm Updates 5/11/2011

    • Modified the Server Overview page to better accommodate large numbers of servers and improve page load times.
    • Corrected an edge case in which a previously canceled resize could in some cases cause a backup restore operation to fail to complete.
    • Fixed an issue which caused servers which had private network connections which were then re-imaged to not have the private network connection added when brought back up after the re-image.
    • Corrected a display issue affecting some browsers when attempting to create a server from a backup image which prevented this from working via the UI.
    • Fixed an issue which prevented the overview page from updating after on page server changes such as resize, clone or destroy were made.
    • Corrected a display issue which was preventing the full text of monitoring notifications from being visible.
    • Fixed a bug which was preventing destroy operations initiated from the Storm dashboard.

    Storm Updates 4/21/2011

    • Added the ability to deploy a new server from a backup taken from an existing Storm server.
    • Added support for Discover card as a payment option.
    • Corrected a bug which was preventing customers from enabling monitoring of SMTP for instances deployed from core managed images.
    • Altered the projected bandwidth display for new servers to show that there is no data, rather than a null value of projected usage in gigabytes.
    • Altered behavior of monitoring so that all outstanding monitoring alerts would automatically resolve if monitoring is disabled for the host in question.
    • Addressed an edge case on resize which would leave the server with an incorrect filesystem size and prevent future resizes.
    • API call storm/config/baremetal/list was not returning the expected boolean value when queried, it is now functioning as documented.
